Since it’s creation in 1986, FIPA played a double role in Miami. One action was to serve "citizens" as a liaison between French authorities, parents and the education authority of Miami Dade, as well as an operational roll in the French IS program. Eventually, the FIPA financed international professors, along with the purchase of educational materials, textbooks and school supplies … we are now established in 4 schools: Sunset and Coconut Grove in the primary level, Carver Middle School and ISCHS for the High School level.

For 2011/2012 our major stake is to collect funds for the establishment of a course for teachers. The implementation of this plan is essential for the future of the program since it IS a condition for further approval of the curriculum by the Ministry of National Education in France. FIPA plays a key role in the local economy. In a city as cosmopolitan as Miami, the existence of a bilingual French option is a wonderful opportunity for our country and its economic influence. In addition many companies and French nationals are choosing to Miami-Dade because of the existence of this program.FIPA is not only a concrete way to participate in a public and cultural education while serving the French community but also an opportunity for an international audience interested in France.

FIPA's Objectives and Accomplishments

FIPA is the liaison between the French Republic, through the Consulat General in Miami, and the Administration of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS).  FIPA works closely with the Principals, Teachers and Faculties of the member schools, as well as with parents and students in accomplishing the following objectives:
    1. Communicate with and assist the French Ministry of Education to insure the continued dual accreditation of the Program and to work with French Inspectors who visit the schools in this regard.
    2. Apply for and obtain financial assistance for the Program from the French Republic.
    3. Obtain visas for visiting teachers who are employed by the French Republic, but who teach in the Program at any of the four schools, and assist in the resolution of obstacles that may arise.
    4. Generate funding through French and local businesses and the Association's membership, to purchase books, computers and other teacher support materials.
    5. Work with local associations, including the Alliance Française, the French American Chamber of Commerce, Miami Accueil, and other French organizations, to promote cultural events that students and their families can attend.
    6. Provide French language book fairs
    7. Provide social events, including picnics and an annual gala dinner.
    8. Publish and distribute a newsletter to the parents of all students in the Program.
    9. Assist, as a member of the "Comite du 14 Juillet," under the auspices of the Consulat General, in organizing the local celebration of Bastille Day and French Independence.
